The Society has published a journal since 1937; it now appears annually.
All articles published in the Journal are listed in one of the three Indexes shown further down this page.
All members of the society receive the Journal as a benefit of membership. Single copies of some issues are available from the Society (Corresponding Secretary, P.O. Box 207, Garden City, NY 11530). volume 49: 1994 - vol. 63: 2008 copies are $7 each, beginning with volume 64: 2009 copies are $10 each.
Two cumulative indexes of the Nassau County Historical Society Journal have been published. With thanks to Trustee David Doucette, we are also able make available PDF versions of both print indexes free via the PDF link attached to each index below.
Also, there is a Cumulative List of Article since 1989, alphabetically under the author’s surname whose pdf link is also below. (When an author has more than one article, they are listed chronologically.) Not included in this listing are book reviews, the Editor’s “Last Word” (since 1996 with historical news and book notes), and the annual President’s Message.
Thousands of pages of articles in the Nassau County Historical Society Journal from 1937 have been digitized by the Palmer School of Library and Information Science at Long Island University (C.W. Post), under a grant from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation. LIU.access.preservica.com is the website for these pages as well as records held by more than fifty Long Island historical organizations that have been digitized.
These PDF versions are keyword searchable by using Find [Ctrl+F] when in the new window. The Find bar should open at the bottom of the window. Type in your search word, or part of a word, ie: entering “histor” will return finds of “Historic”, “Historian”, “Historical”, and “History”. Each instance will be highlighted in the document, and you’ll be able to toggle through each highlighted find.
